ABSTRACT
The objective of the study was to examine the impact of direct taxation on the digital economy in Nigeria.
The survey research design was employed in the study. The population of the study consisted of tax authorities as well as tax payers. The total enumerative of the entire population (50) was taken in the study. The research instrument employed was the questionnaire, which was passed validity and reliability. The questionnaire was administered and data derived was analysed using the descriptive statistics and regression analysis.
The findings of the study revealed that direct taxation has a significant relationship with the digital economy. There is a substantial relationship between direct taxation and the needs of the digital economy, indicating that the taxation of the digital economy is needed just as much as taxation of the non digital economy. There is a considerable relationship between direct taxation and the problems of the digital economy. There is also a significant relationship between direct taxation and the components of the digital economy. There is a significant relationship between direct taxation and digital economy strategies. Based on the findings, the study recommends that the government should look into the needs, problems, components and the strategies currently relating to the digital economy and make improvements where necessary as they all have an impact on the digital economy.
