ABSTRACT

This study investigated digital literacy skill and the use of video sharing site as a determinant of postgraduate students research productivity in Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive survey research design in sampling the opinions of users and staff of John Harris Library in Edo sate. The population of the study was 750 post graduate students across 5 faculties in the University of Benin, Benin City. Through multistage sampling technique, One hundred and fifty (150) copies of questionnaires was administered and one hundred and twenty-eight (128) copies of questionnaires was retrieved from the respondents and usable. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Frequencies were used in analyzing the bio-data of the respondents; statistical mean. The findings from analyzed include: that the level of Digital literacy skill as a determinant of postgraduate student‟s research productivity is very high, the impacts of digital literacy skill on students‟ research productivity are numerous, amongst which are: Information resources for conducting research are easily accessed by students through digital literacy skill, Digital literacy skill has help speed up the students research productivity and Digital literacy skill had been found to be effective in students research productivity. Based on the findings, some recommendations were made which include: Postgraduate students should invest more of their time in developing technical skills to retrieve information using the digital approach.
