ABSTRACT
Deviant behavior is an unaccepted behavior in the society, this behavior is common among young adults. Deviant behavior has been a challenge to different countries and it differs, between developed and developing countries, it common in developing countries because they lack some features that develop countries has like access to quality education which is supposed to educate these young ones on deviant behavior dangers. Recently, youth deviant behavior has become a global issue of great concern and requires immediate attention. Developing nations in Africa face lots of these deviant behavior because the system of the country is not favorable to them. Therefore, the challenges that face the youth in the urban poor settings are many, varied and unique to the context. Despite this understanding, there is a dearth of evidence on the youth deviant behaviors. Particularly, the factors associated with youth deviant behavior in the informal settlements is not clearly documented. The objective of this study was therefore, to contribute to fill this gap by studying the perceived factors associated with deviant behavior among the young adults living in Oredo community Benin city, Edo state. The study setting was carried out in oredo community and the use of questionnaire for proper calculation on the number of young adults with deviant behavior. The study recommended guidance and solutions some of the solutions which includes counselling them on the dangers of deviant behavior and the benefit of living as a responsible young adult in oredo Benin city, Edo state.
