ABSTRACT
The study was to investigate developmental reading disabilities prevalent among nursery school children in Oredo Local Government Area, Edo state.Also of interest in this study were the developmental reading disabilities among nursery children based on location,ownership of the schools and sex of the pupils.To guide this study of the study,four research question were raised,one was answered directly while three were formulated into hypothesis and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study adopted the descriptive survey design.The population was made up of all the teachers in regular ans special nursery schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The sample size was 10 schools selected through random sampling technique. The instrument used to collect the data was a checklist.The data collected were analysed using standard deviation,mean, the independent sample ,and t-tests .The results include developmental reading disabilities are prevalent in rural areas than in urban areas.Based on the findings, the following recommendations were made among others. A supportive and inclusive environment in the classroom that fosters the love for reading in the children should be available in nursery settings.
