ABSTRACT

This work is aimed at designing and implementing an anti-theft system using motion and sound data for indoor home security.
This work utilized a Raspberry Pi Zero W, motion sensors, sound sensors, a surveillance camera, a cloud server and a mobile app. This system allows the user to ensure the security of their home from anywhere on the globe. The system will continually stream video from the surveillance camera to the user through the cloud and the mobile app. The surveillance system will turn its camera in the direction of a sound or motion disturbance and alert the user to the presence of this disturbance.
The system demonstrated acceptable boundaries of successful intruder detection between 0m and 7m distance from the surveillance device.
