ABSTRACT
The purpose of this project was to create an information system for tracking student hostel occupants' identities in order to track their entrances and exits from different hostels. The study defined the system design, described the numerous user and system requirements, and then developed the system. In order to find and comprehend existing Identity Management Systems for tracking hostel residents using QR codes, a review of the literature was conducted. Through informal interviews with system users, the system's user and system needs were determined. Use case, sequence, and class diagrams, among other UML diagrams, were used to specify the system design. MONGODB was used to implement the database. Using HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap, the frontend was put into action. Node JS and ExpressJS were used in the backend's implementation. The system's results demonstrated the integration of the database for storing data along with the front ends of the web and mobile applications. The system's ability to uniquely identify each hostel resident via a specially created QR code allowed for easy monitoring of students' entrance and exit from the hostels, according to the results. According to the study's findings, implementing the system inside the student residencewill significantly reduce the difficulties connected with tracking students' entrances and exits from residences, particularly when it comes to counting the number of students present in the residence during head counts.
