ABSTRACT

This research evaluates a reservoir's suitability for carbon capture, use, and storage Enhanced Oil Recovery (CCUS-EOR) and carbon dioxide (CO2) sequestration. The mitigation of carbon emissions by CO2 sequestration has gained traction in light of the growing concerns over climate change and the pressing need to lower greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, by lowering CO2 emissions and improving oil recovery from depleted reservoirs, CCUS-EOR provides a double advantage. To ascertain the reservoir's appropriateness, a thorough assessment of geological, geophysical, and engineering factors is part of the technique. When evaluating the reservoir's storage capacity and containment capabilities, geological elements including porosity, permeability, and caprock integrity are critical. The results will help in selecting appropriate reservoirs for large-scale CO2 sequestration projects and CCUS EOR programs, which will speed up the shift to low-carbon energy.
