ABSTRACT

  pH values of bottle water samples and their monthly variation. Table 3.5 gives the pH of 30 bottles of Uniben. Water sold with university of benin metropolis. On carrying out this work, the pH of the repective sachets were thoroughly considrone and compares with known standard, which is within 6.5-8.5(WHO,2007). From table 3.5, only one experiment was carried out for the month January and the main pH value was found to be 6.44 0.08 which is below the WHO(2007) standard for drinking water. The average pH of some the bottle water samples (indicated by WHO*) were below the WHO (2007) standard for drinking water. The mean pH of the bottle water in the month of February range from 6.070.05 to 7.180.02 to B2 had the lowest while B11 had the highest pH. There was decrease in the mean pH of the bottle water in the month of March range from 6.540.02 to 6.840.03, B3 had the lowest while B5 had the highest pH the decrease in the month of March was followed by an increase in the month of April with a pH range of 6.42 to 7.050.01. statistic Analysis of pH value

 

It was found that the quality of the water brands changed randomly over time (the four months period).
