ABSTRACT Inequality, which has been an issue in the hearts of concerned policymakers is the state of being unequal, especially in status, rights, and opportunities. However, the concept of inequality is susceptible to controversy due to its ambiguous definition as it tends to mean different things to different people. In the health care delivery sector of Nigeria, a handful of inequalities can be seen to exist amongst health care providers and consumers in their desire to provide and consume health care services. This study sets its focus on the determinant of these inequalities based factors in the demand for and utilization of maternal health care services in Nigeria. The first chapter of the work made provisions for stating the problems behind the work, itself, outlining the research objectives and hypothesis to be tested after introducing the study. In the second chapter, a background to maternal healthcare service demand and supply in Nigeria was discussed. This chapter then paved the way for the examination of the study’s concepts, theoretical works related to the study and the contributions of previous authorities in the form of empirical analysis. While the fourth chapter provided the methodology for the study, the fifth presented and interpreted the analysis. By employing the fixed effect model after conducting the Hausman test and generalized moment on the regression result of time series data sourced from Nigeria’s demographic survey (2012, 2017 and 2022), the study concluded in the sixth chapter that women’s reproductive age, infant mortality rate, women education, women unemployment and wealth are determinants of inequalities in the utilization of health care services in Nigeria
