ABSTRACT
The study was undertaken to explore the entrepreneurial intention of university students in Edo state. The population for the study was from 300level students from universities in Edo state. The universities include; University of Benin, Ambrose Ali University, Igbenedion University. The sample size for the study is 100 respondents. The respondents were selected using stratified random sampling method. Through critical appraisal of the existing body of knowledge, the present study tested the role of entrepreneurial self-efficacy and risk-taking propensity towards enhancing entrepreneurial intention. This study seeks to investigate empirically the factors influencing the entrepreneurial intentions of students. The area of this study covers attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioural control and self-efficacy and how this influences the intentions of students to become entrepreneurs. The study employed the descriptive and explanatory design; questionnaires in addition to library research were applied in order to collect data. Primary and secondary data sources were used and data was analyzed using the chi square statistical tool at 5% level of significance which was presented in frequency tables and percentage. The respondents under the study were 100 students from universities in Edo state. The finding suggests that the four factors examined has significant relationship with entrepreneurial intentions. It was therefore recommended that entrepreneurial values be promoted among students and students should be exposed to the skills required by entrepreneurs.
