The analysis of data obtained showed that there was no significant relationship between counsellors' qualifications and effective counselling in secondary schools in Edo South Senatorial District. Also, that there was no significant relationship between counsellors' gender and effective counselling in secondary schools in Edo South Senatorial District. The Government should emphasize less on additional qualification as a yardstick for measuring counsellors’ effectiveness during their appointments. Secondary school principals should encourage counsellors’ creativity in improvising counselling facilities for effective counselling activities in the secondary schools.
