ABSTRACT
This study investigates the determinants and effects of cyberbullying among youths in the University of Benin, Nigeria. Using a qualitative method, interviews were conducted among undergraduate students to explore the factors contributing to cyberbullying, as well as its impact on student’s psychological well-being and academic performance. The study will delve into the factors that contribute to the prevalence of cyberbullying such as personal emotions, the on-line environment and the increased use of social media and the anonymity it provides as well as the individual and societal factors that may influence its occurrence. Furthermore this study examined the psychological impact of cyberbullyng on mental health, academic consequences, long term effects and overall well-being of the youths in the University of Benin. By understanding the dynamics of cyberbullying, this research can inform the development of effective intervention and prevention strategies to address this critical issue within the University community.
