Abstract
The study was done to produce a detailed map of the facilities of the faculties of engineering and environmental sciences of the University of Benin campus, Egor, Ikpoba-okha local Government area, Edo State, Nigeria.
The purpose of the project is to determine the relative positions of natural and man-made objects of the study area and create a map showing their relative positions using a suitable scale. The project area was approximately 17.9464 hectares at a scale of 1:5000 .
The methodology of this research involved the physical collection of required survey data for processing and visualizing the true orientation and position of all features using the principle of whole to parts. This was done using GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) in RTK mode (Real Time Kinetics) and Total Station.
The results of this project was a detailed map of the study area. This result showed the possibility of displaying features if their relative positions were accurately determined. The project has been successfully carried out and it is recommended that the maps be put to good use in the University of Benin for future developmental projects and land use planning.
