ABSTRACT

In response to the pressing need for a more conducive learning environment, the 400 level graphic design students initiated a transformative project aimed at revitalizing the graphic design studio. Recognizing the limitations posed by inadequate space, our dedicated team of final year students embarked on a mission to enhance the studio's capacity to accommodate a larger number of aspiring graphic design enthusiasts. Drawing inspiration from the successful 2018/2019 graduating students' initiative at the University of Benin, who refurbished their studio to facilitate effective graphic design studies, our goal is to address the spatial constraints hindering students from pursuing their passion in graphic design. The project involves the creation of additional space, installation of essential amenities such as chairs, tables, electrical fittings, fixing the damaged bulbs, fixing the blinds, and paint retouching. By undertaking these enhancements, we aim not only to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment but also to inspire and elevate the creative and critical thinking capacities of present and future graphic design students in our department. Through this endeavor, we aspire to provide a nurturing space where students can fully realize their aspirations in the dynamic field of graphic design
