ABSTRACT
The importance of safety and safety measures cannot be overemphasized in our society. This research project is aimed at highlighting the importance of fire safety in a university environment and the importance of educating the students of the university on fire safety measures through a clear, visible and easy to understand set of fire safety signage. Fire safety signage plays a crucial role in guiding individuals to safety and minimizing panic during a fire incident/outbreak. This research provides a comprehensive review of existing literature on Fire, Fire safety, and fire safety signage. Based on the findings of this research, fire safety signage and signs will be designed by the researcher for the department of Fine and applied arts, University of Benin. These designs will consider factors such as visibility, legibility, comprehension, and visual communication principles to ensure the signage effectively communicates vital information to the students and staff alike.
