ABSTRACT
The Internet of Things (IoT) has led to the development of new smart home technologies, including IoT-enabled door locks. These smart locks allow users to remotely monitor and control access to their homes and businesses. However, some existing smart lock solutions have complex user interfaces that can be difficult for people to use. This project aims to design an IoT-enabled door lock system with an easy-to-use interface. The researchers conducted user studies to understand the needs and preferences of homeowners and businesses when it comes to smart lock systems. Based on these insights, the project designed and built a smart door lock system that combines hardware components, like the ESP32 microcontroller and solenoid lock, with a custom-built web application. The web application, made using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, provides a simple and visually appealing way for users to remotely control and monitor their door locks. Key features include the ability to lock and unlock doors remotely, manage access, and see real-time updates. The system also has secure communication protocols and error handling to ensure it is reliable and protects user data. The results show that the project successfully created a smart door lock system that balances security, convenience, and usability. The easy-to-use interface, combined with IoT technologies, provides users with a comprehensive solution for managing access to their homes and businesses. This project contributes to the advancement of smart home automation and access control systems, which could lead to more people using IoTenabled door locks.
