SUMMARY
The aim of this project was to create a MPPT charge controller in order to encourage the use of renewable energy in form of solar power throughout the world and promote the efficiency of stand-alone systems. An introduction to solar panels was done in the literature review, stating its characteristics and types. The significance of maximum power point tracking has also been shown, as well as the various algorithmic approaches. This MPPT solar charge controller was then designed carefully, implementing the Perturb and Observation algorithm. It was first simulated on Proteus, then prototyped on a bread board, before it was built.
