ABSTRACT

"Design and Simulation of Stellar Explorer: An Augmented Reality Mobile Application for Learning about Planetary Bodies" is an innovative educational tool aimed at enhancing astronomy education for enthusiasts and students. The project employs augmented reality (AR) technology to create an interactive, visually immersive environment where users can explore 3D models of planets in our solar system. The application gives a user-friendly interface and rich, scientifically accurate information overlays to facilitate a deeper understanding of planetary science. The research methodology involved a comprehensive analysis of existing educational AR applications, user needs assessment through surveys, and iterative design and testing phases. The App development implementation was achieved using Unity Hub and AR Foundation frameworks, coupled with NASA's planetary data to ensure accuracy. Extensive usability testing was conducted with target user groups to refine the interface and functionality. The significance of this research lies in its ability to transform mobile devices into virtual observatories, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and experiential learning. Stellar Explorer not only makes astronomical education more accessible and engaging but also provides a valuable tool for both formal education and personal enrichment, demonstrating the potential of AR technology in modern learning environments.
