ABSTRACT

The target of this project is to recover and utilize waste heat effectively in cement manufacturing process, focusing on the Dangote cement plant in Ibese community, Ogun state as a case-study. An understudy of the plant was carried out and data obtained was then used in the design of modeling of the cement manufacturing process. This process was modelled using the DWSIM software and the system for the recovery of these waste heat was then incorporated into the kiln section of the cement manufacturing process due to the high presence of waste heat in this region. This study could help in improving the efficiency of the manufacturing process in general as energy input is used to do more process work. Heat recovery systems also have great benefits for the environment, as they help reduce the emissions of green house gases by cement plants, simultaneously reducing global warming as well.
