ABSTRACT
Mental illnesses are the reason behind suicide among children and young adults. As a result, a growing body of research has emphasised the need for mental health counselling in schools. However, most schools can only afford physical counselling sessions, which has resulted in low student-counsellor sessions. This project aims to deploy an interactive online mental health platform that will boost the student-counselor session rate. The project will use the incremental software development model to deploy the mental health platform, which comprises a chat platform, an appointment/booking system, and a blogging CMS. The chat platform is the core feature while the blogging CMS is to help school-based mental therapists share success stories, testimonies, and helpful blog posts with their student community. On the other hand, the booking system will help students schedule therapy sessions remotely. The front-end section of the platform will be made with conventional front-end development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. On the same note, the platform's back end will be made with the PHP programming language and the Laravel framework. At the end of the project's development, both student-counsellors should be able to use the platform for hitch-free remote counselling sessions via the chat platform.
