ABSTRACT

Security Issues is one of the major challenge faced by users when transferring electronic information. Over the years countless number of techniques used for protecting data has evolved. Some of these techniques include cryptography, digital watermarking, Finger printing, steganography. One lesser-known but rapidly growing method is steganography, which is the art of concealing information in innocent looking objects so that it does not even appear to exist. Information hiding in a cover file is one of the most modernized and effective way of transferring secret messages from sender to receiver over a communication channel. There are many steganography techniques for hiding secret messages this include image, text, audio and video steganography. This project research seeks to hides information in image file. The technique used for implementing this, is the Least Significant Bits (LSB) technique. This technique inserts data in the least significant bits of the image. This makes the cracking of the hidden message difficult.

The proposed system can be used by the Edo State Ministry of Budget and Economics Planning for storing and sending of textual information.
