Abstract
The increasing adoption of Learning Management Systems (LMS) in educational institutions necessitates efficient and scalable assessment tools. This paper presents the design and implementation of an automated grading system specifically tailored for multiple-choice assessments within an LMS. The proposed system leverages modern software engineering practices to ensure reliability, accuracy, and ease of integration with existing LMS platforms. It aims to enhance the assessment process by providing instant feedback to students and reducing the administrative burden on educators. The system architecture is built on a robust algorithm capable of handling various question formats and grading criteria. Key features include dynamic question randomization, automated scoring, and detailed analytics on student performance. The design also incorporates a user-friendly interface for educators to create, manage, and review assessments seamlessly. Extensive testing was conducted to validate the system’s functionality, focusing on accuracy, performance under different loads, and compatibility with various LMS environments. Initial deployment and user feedback indicate significant improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of the grading process. Educators reported a considerable reduction in grading time, allowing for more focus on instructional activities. Students benefited from immediate, actionable feedback, which is critical for learning and improvement. This study demonstrates the potential of automated grading systems to transform the assessment landscape in educational settings, promoting a more streamlined and engaging learning experience.
