ABSTRACT

 

Inverters, which is a major equipment in the implementation of this project, are widely used in domestic as well as industrial environments to serve as a second line of source in case of power cut from the electricity utility grids. However, due to low capacity of the battery, the inverter dies out with the use of heavy appliances. This project is designed in such a way that it overcomes this limitation by the use of solar energy. The Inverter with solar battery charging system consists of an inverter powered by a 12V battery. With the use of driver circuitry and a heavy load transformer, this inverter can produce up to 230V AC. The battery gets charged from two sources, first being the solar power supply itself and second being mains power supply. If the solar power supply is available, the relay switches to the connection using solar power supply to supply the load and otherwise load connect to the mains power supply. This solar power supply also charges the battery for using it as a backup. Pleasurably, the use of main supply to charge the battery while solar power supply is not available. Thus this inverter can last long and provide uninterrupted power supply to the user.
