ABSTRACT

This project details the design and implementation of a software based Public Address System (PAS) specifically designed for student information dissemination within educational institutions. Unlike traditional public address systems that rely on audio announcements, this public address system prioritizes visual communication, offering a more targeted and accessible approach for student information delivery.

The public address system (PAS) mobile application was developed using a comprehensive methodology. The user interface was first designed in Figma, followed by a responsive web-based frontend built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The system was integrated with the Firebase platform for real-time notifications and data synchronization, and the web-based codebase was converted to a mobile-friendly Android format using WebintoApp. The development process followed a structured four-stage approach: needs assessment, prototyping and user testing, development and implementation, and evaluation with continuous improvement based on user experiences.

The software based public address system on completion met all the objectives specified, being able to send information to the intended parties, the intended parties receive notification on new messages and are able to view these messages. Furthermore, the visual format caters to diverse learning styles, enhancing accessibility for all students. This project contributes to a more informed and engaged student body by providing a readily accessible platform for critical school information.
