ABSTRACT
In today's fast-paced consumer market, the efficient management of product expiry dates is crucial for businesses to minimize waste, ensure product quality, and maintain customer satisfaction. In response to this challenge, this project proposes the design and implementation of a web-based product expiry alert system using the MERN (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) stack. The system aims to assist businesses in tracking product expiration dates and generating timely alerts to notify users about upcoming expirations. The proposed system encompasses features such as user authentication, product management, customizable alert settings, and comprehensive reporting capabilities. Key components of the system include a userfriendly interface built with React.js for seamless interaction, a scalable backend powered by Express.js and Node.js to handle data processing and business logic, and a robust MongoDB database to store product information and user data securely. The system's alert generation algorithm ensures that users receive alerts based on configurable thresholds, allowing for proactive management of expiring products. Security considerations, including authentication mechanisms, data encryption, and secure coding practices, are integrated into the system design to protect sensitive information and mitigate security risks. Overall, the proposed product expiry alert system aims to streamline product management processes, enhance operational efficiency, and ultimately contribute to reducing waste and maximizing resource utilization in businesses across various industries.
