DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A COMPUTERIZED LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM .

ABSTRACT

 There is no doubt that Libraries play an important role in aiding students learning. No academic institution can adequately achieve its educational goals without a having a comprehensive library that is very well structured and operated effectively and efficiently.   Library is a building or room containing collections of books, periodicals, sources of information made accessible to the public, defined community or members of an institution for reference or borrowing. The current process of operating a library manually in Institutions in Nigeria is very challenging and clumsy. As a result, research and development for this project work began, with the goal of designing and implementing a computerized library management system to handle library management tasks in a complete way that reduces the complexity of the manual system. After successful implementation of this project, student will be able to login to the library management portal, place a request for any desired book in the library, get notification if the book is available or not, get a notification on the day the book will be available, be issued a date of pick up and return date. The sole purpose is to plan the student reading culture within a specified timeframe and reduce the time wastage of going to an out of stock library. HTML (Hypertext mark-up language), CSS (Cascading style sheet), PHP (Hypertext pre-processor), and the My SQL database were used to create and construct the library management system. The V-Model software development technique was used to create the system. Many of the project's declared objectives were met, according to a detailed examination of the initiative.
