ABSTRACT
Library is a collection of materials and similar resources of different formats, made available and accessible to specific set of individuals for different purposes. Libraries have been a vital part of the educational sector of any nation. Several libraries have suffered failure as a result of inadequate capacity and lack of simultaneous access to resources. In this project, we developed a digital library system which served the same function as a traditional library but in a more orderly and efficient manner. Unlike traditional libraries where information is assembled at a physical location and users have to travel there to use it, the digital library comprises of library contents saved on the web and it can be accessed via mobile phones, computers, laptops, etc. once connected to the internet. This project work aims to design and implement a digital library system. The digital library system is a project which aims in developing a library platform where users can read, review and download different library materials. In the course of development of this digital library system, these tools were used; HTML (Hypertext Mark-up Language), CSS (Cascading Style Sheet), PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) and MySQL database. The primary elements of this design are interface tools and database. This framework provides a model of navigation that supports the process of discovery with predictable access points into different collections of information.
