ABSTRACT
This research project focuses on designing and developing efficient yam pounding machines suitable for preparing pounded yam, a staple dish in Nigerian cuisine. The study encompasses experimental investigations to determine the pounding time of yam and the fabrication of twin blade pounding machines. The results indicate that the developed machine can pound 1 kilogram of yam in just 2 minutes, outperforming both manual pounding methods, which take 15 to 20 minutes, and single blade pounding machines, which require 5 to 6 minutes for the same task. The research contributes to improving the efficiency, speed, and hygiene of yam processing, offering a promising solution for traditional food preparation practices.
