ABSTRACT
This project focuses on the development of an efficient, small scale and cost effective solution for the waste management industry, specifically targeting the much-neglected process of polymer melting. This machine employs innovative design principles and advanced materials to enhance efficiency and reliability. Several factors such as such as cost of production, weight, susceptibility to wear and simplicity were considered in the material selection for this project. The materials used for this project are mild steel In this study involving an extrusion machine, 10kg of un-extruded feed was loaded, and three extrusion runs were conducted, The load output of pellets increased progressively from the first run to the third due to reduced friction within the extrusion barrel, thanks to feed sticking to the barrel's internal walls which made extrusion to become smoother during the third run. The successful realization of this project promises to revolutionize the waste management industry by simplifying the polymer melting process, ultimately leading to increased productivity and sustainability within the waste management sector.
