ABSTRACT
This study is about the design of an automatic smartphone display assembly separation machine using selected locally available materials. Smart phones’ display consist of two components namely the touchpad and display screen. Recent observation reveals that the two components are becoming completely glued together throughout the surface and this implies that users of these smart phones will have to replace the complete assembly whenever any of the components is bad. This study deals with the design and fabrication of a machine which separates the two components when one is faulty in order to replace the faulty component only. This machine was developed with the aim of reducing the risk factor associated with the commercially used manual method and reduces disadvantages associated with its usage such as wastage of material and time and risk of injury to the operator. This will be achieved by designing and fabricating a manually operated smartphone display assembly separation machine after carrying out optimum material selection and subsequently to design and automate the manually operated smartphone display assembly separation machine.
