ABSTRACT
The project was based on the design and construction of an automated wireless remote-control system for an automatic gate. This is a system that will enable a user to open, close or stop a gate wirelessly by using a handheld remote-control pad. A normal car alternator was converted to a dc motor and mechanically attached to a gate, then an electronic circuit was also built and attached to the motor and with a wireless receiver. A hand held remote was also built that had a transmitter and buttons and enables the user to communicate with the circuit connected to the gate, by using the handheld remote, to control the movement of the gate. This was achieved by the use of discreet electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, diodes, relays etc. and a programmable integrated circuit, an 8052 microcontroller and Bluetooth technology. After the design, construction and testing, automated wirelessly controlled gate performed satisfactorily.
