ABSTRACT
This project was designed to reduce the over involvement of humans and mimic the roles of the real-life poultry attendants in delivering water for birds at specified time intervals. The system consists of microcontroller, sensor, timer, relay, filter capacitor and voltage regulator. The project entry point is the power supply which is made up of a linear power supply topology. The power supply produces 12V, 9V and 5V. The 12 volt is used to power the 12V relay, the 9V used to power the DC pump while the 5V is used to power the microcontroller unit, 5V relay the temperature sensor and other modules. The microcontroller configures the device and set every necessary data, like the time set, the temperature set and so on. The system has a contact circuit (sensor) to detect when the water is full and send signal the controller which signals the relay to cutoff supply to the DC pump. The timer-based watering system helps to reduced disease outbreak, undue fatigue and malnutrition of birds. Water level in the trough would be sensed by the sensor and the microcontroller sends signals to the Dc pump to dispense water intelligently with respect to the specified time set on the timer. This system reduces workload of the poultry attendants, increases cost benefits and generates better return on investment in an automated poultry farming system.
