ABSTRACT
The automatic gate opening system combines mechanical and electrical (i.e electro-mechanical) system. The function of the mechanical part is to move the gate to the directions that have been set. While the electrical is to give energy and signal to move the mechanical parts as designed.
This is an electro-mechanical based project carried out to give a solution to the problem regularly encountered by day to day users of this system. It involves the design of the transmitter circuit (using a remote control) and transmitting at a frequency of 35 kHz to 45 kHz. The receiver is a combination of an infrared receiver and a decoder to drive the relay. The drive output is fed to a transistor which inverts the input to the counter. The output of the counting sequence fed to the transistor drivers which drives the relay to move the motor clockwise and counter-clockwise to open and close the gate.
A prototype of this gate system was constructed for this project and tested with centurion Motor attached to the gate. The electronically controlled automatic vehicle gate could be used in homes, industries, schools and so on for either convenience or security reasons.
