ABSTRACT
Access to reliable and uninterruptible power supply remains a pressing issue in today’s interconnected world. To address this issue, this project endeavors to design and construct an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system tailored to the unique needs of a commercial three-bedroom apartment. The primary objective is to harness solar energy as the primary source while minimizing costs by eliminating or reducing the use of diesel or fuel generators.
The UPS system is the cornerstone of this project. A very detailed and thorough literature review reveals the critical role of the UPS system in efficiently capturing sunlight and converting it into electrical power for commercial use. Key components such as various types of solar panels and charge controllers are explored in detail. Additionally, the project talks about the automatic transfer switch (ATS), which enables the automatic transfer of power from the mains supply (if it fails) to the secondary supply, to prevent the interruption of power which could potentially damage the equipment connected. By optimizing the power conversion processes, the project aims to ensure a consistent and reliable energy supply, even under varying environmental conditions.
