ABSTRACT

In today’s world, there is a continuous need for automatic appliances. With the increase in standard of living, there is a sense of urgency for developing circuits that would ease the complexity of life. Load Shedding Time Management Device is designed to operate an electrical load automatically at given time intervals. It overcomes the difficulties of switching the load ON/OFF manually. Knowledge of this project is needed in the design and construction. The project is designed to automatically detect and respond to power outages by integrating with the local power grid infrastructure. It incorporates advanced scheduling algorithms and real-time data analysis to predict load shedding schedules accurately. This is achieved using an Integrated Development Environment (IDE), a compiler and an Integrated Programming Environment (IPE). The combination of these three ensures that the microcontroller acting as the command centre is able to issue out commands to other components of the device, causing the load connected to it to be shed. Users can input their time schedule into the device, allowing it to prioritize certain distribution centres over others at set time intervals. From testing and results gotten, we are able to see that when a shed time is fed into the device, multiple loads is switched at periodic shed time intervals. The results of our tests demonstrate the effectiveness of the load shedding time management device in overcoming the challenges posed by load shedding, ultimately reducing energy wastage and providing a more convenient and efficient way to navigate power outages. We draw conclusions from this result gotten and proceed to recommend other ways in which automatic load shedding can be mitigated, such as linking the device to an SMS programmable interface such that the shed time can be changed over a given distance without the user’s physical presence.
