ABSTRACT
The aim of this project is to design and construct a prototype RFID-based vehicle parking security system, which security alarm and parking space availability indicator mechanisms incorporated into the system; which in real life scenario can be applied for the purpose of access control and vehicle security in public and commercial centres like hospitals, shopping malls etc.
The design process involves the use of materials sourced for locally such as plywood, passive and active electronic components such as transistors, resistors, capacitors, operational amplifiers etc. and a programmable microcontroller to build a physical structure in order to simulate how Radio Frequency Identification can be applied to prevent car theft in public parking areas around the country.
After construction, the system was tested for several hours under various conditions and it worked efficiently and effectively. Therefore, if implemented in real life, this system promises to be a very feasible and effective way of checkmating the bane of car theft in our society.
