ABSTRACT
Intrusion detection is a method of detecting human presence based on motion or other physical attributes of humans such as infrared body heat or even shape using cameras and object recognition technology. One of the most common applications of intrusion detection is security and limiting human access within a restricted area. To immobilize means to prevent something or someone from moving or operating as normal. The term immobilizer popularly refers to the technology that allows car or truck owners to shut down their vehicles using their mobile phones in the event of a theft, but in this project the detected human will be immobilized (Nwalozie et al, 2015).Security and surveillance systems are very important in both industrial and residential areas. And as security technologies advances, burglars also possess new approach every now and then to beat the systems. In most cases, traditional security systems are used which makes it easier for advanced burglars to have their way. This project presents the development of an intrusion detection system with intruder immobilizer capabilities. The system detects intrusion into a building, immobilizes the intruder, and ward off further intrusion through an alarm system and security light. In the end, the resultant intruder detection and immobilizer system was able to detect human presence with the aid of a PIR sensor and also react to vibrations on the door or window of the house. It also sends an SMS notification to the owner’s phone number as soon as there is an intrusion and the system was able to turn on security lights and ultimately immobilize the intruder.
