ABSTRACT
This project is aimed at designing and constructing a microcontroller based temperature controller for an air conditioner (AC) that will automatically switch OFF and ON between desired temperatures ranges. This controller which is centered on a PIC microcontroller (PIC16F877A) which incorporates a temperature sensor and relay which does the switching. It also incorporates LED which displays the real time ambient temperature and the chosen temperature. A buzzer is also incorporated into the circuit to alert the user in case of equipment malfunction. On completion of this project, the circuit worked effectively keeping a room at desired temperature range by switching the AC ON and OFF appropriately.
