ABSTRACT
The application of high voltage DC pulse is on the increase in electrical engineering practice. In this project the design and construction of a Marx generator for the generation of high voltage DC pulse was carried out. The Marx generator is a type of electrical circuit that uses a series of capacitors and spark gaps to generate high voltage pulses. In this project work a 10 stage Cockcroft Walton (CW) voltage multiplier was use to supply the input voltage to a 4 stage Marx Circuit. The considerations for the values of the component selected in the design is represented in this work. The test results show that the Marx generator perform satisfactorily and was able to generate high voltage DC pulse output arcing across a 6.5mm spark gap when feed with 220Vac input.
