Abstract
This study examines depression among students of university of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria. The study adopted the survey research design which was used to gather data from a sample of 400 students. The data was analysed using the percentage and chisquare technique. The result indicated that depression negatively impact on students’ academic performance in University of Benin. The result also shows that depression negatively affects student relationship with peers and teachers in the University of Benin. And that depression exact psychological impact on the wellbeing of students in University of Benin. The study recommends that there should counselors who can help mitigate the impact of depression and help students suffering from related issue can be manage to enhance their academic performance. When friends observe isolative behavior from peers they should try to find a way of helping through counseling. The victims of depression should be given rehabilitation strategies that could help them get over it, with times.
