DEMOCRATIC DECISION MAKING AND EASE OF STUDENT HOSTEL ADMINISTRATION IN UNIVERSITY OF BENIN

Abstract

This research work sought to examine democratic decision making and ease of student hostel administration in university of Benin. The study made use of questionnaire to obtain data from respondent. Four objectives were raised for the study. The study found that Making decision about student’s welfare has a positive effect on academic performance vis-à-vis productivity because such decision will span across all spare of university activities, policies and programs. It also found that hostel administration is well planned and executed with democratic decision processes. The study concluded that democratic decision making in hostel administration is capable of turning the institutions hostel resource into an enviable fortune as well as impacting on the academic achievement of students. The study thus recommend institutions who are yet to adopt student’s participation in decision making should do so as this will enhance better commitment to work, creative thinking and exhibition of good team work.
