ABSTRACT
This study examined the connection between the delegation of authority and the effectiveness of organizational management. The objectives of the study include to determine the relationship between assigned responsibility and management efficiency of the organization, ascertain the relationship between grant authority and management efficiency of the firm; and investigate the relationship between accountability and management efficiency of the organization.The geographical location used for the study was Benin City, which was the city located in Edo State, Nigeria. The study did not extend to other cities or countries beyond Benin City, limiting the generalization of findings to SMEs in this specific geographical area.
The research population of the study comprised the SMEs owners in University of Benin, Benin City of Edo State, In University of Benin there are more than one thousand (1,000) SMEs. The sample of this research was calculated by using Taro Yamane (Yamane, 1973) formula with 95% confidence level. The sample size was 285.7 form the total population which was the lower number of responses from the respondents to maintain a 95% confident interval. The data was computed with frequency distributions, averages, modes, range and percentages. These percentages enable us draw inferences on the degree of occurrence of the variables measured within our study sample.
From the findings it was concluded that there are opportunities for improvement in the organization's delegation of authority, clarity in defining roles and responsibilities, and the promotion of accountability. Addressing these areas could lead to enhanced organizational effectiveness, quicker decision-making, a culture of innovation, and higher employee motivation and engagement. Based on the findings and conclusion the researcher then give the necessary recommendations.
