SUMMARY
There is a need for the repositioning of the African society in order to bring a balance or near balance to the day-to-day existence of the people in it. The postcolonial African society is that which is made up of who learn new ways of enriching just themselves by means of depriving others of what should be for a larger size of the population. In a quest to fatten their pockets, they end up taking lives, bastardising resources thereby resulting to degradation of the source(s) of livelihood and impoverishment of the people and the region as a whole. The hijacked source(s) of livelihood some or all times are irreparable because of the extent of the damage done, and the impoverished state of the larger population remains permanent thereby resulting to the outbreak of diseases, and poor living conditions. These conditions have birthed vices such as kidnapping and militancy in the region. The despoiled environments are thereby left desolate. Of what use is existence where no means of survival is found? Or what sane human will remain perpetually in an environment that breeds diseases? Hence, the essence of narratives such as the selected one for this long essay.
