The study examined cyber-security and cyber-silence towards the protection of critical infrastructures in Nigeria. Four research questions were raised to guide the study. The design adopted for this study is the survey research design. The sample consisted of 390 respondents randomly selected from Ugbowo in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. Questionnaires were used for the collection of data from the 390 respondents. The research instrument was validated by the researcher’s supervisor and two experts in the department of accounting. The test T-test method was adopted in testing the reliability of the instrument after which the research instruments were administered by the researcher herself. The data obtained were analyzed using simple percentage table and the T-test statistics. Findings revealed that there is a significant relationship between cyber security and the protection of critical infrastructures in Nigeria. It was also revealed that there is a significant difference in the perception of people as regards the effect of cyber security in reducing cyber risk in Nigeria. Based on the findings, it was recommended that the amendment of the cyber-crime (Prohibition Prevention) Act 2015, to include the creation of a specialized Cyber Attack Prevention Agency. It was also recommended that The Nigerian Government should immediately sign and ratify the cybercrime convention adopted by the council of Europe which came into force on 1st July, 2004.
