ABSTRACT

The main focus of this work is to explore the moral and ethical implications of cyber crime on society. The current prevalence of cybercrimes and the evident decline of moral values serve as clear indicators of the social problems we face today. Cyber criminals around the world are utilizing computer technology and the internet to deceive and defraud individuals, posing a significant threat to both individual well-being and society as a whole. The activities of cyber criminals have contributed to the destabilization of social structures, economic issues, and various other threats to internet users and society in general. In conducting this research, both critical analysis and an expositional approach were employed to address the problem of cybercrimes and their moral and ethical implications on society. The research findings demonstrate that many crimes are committed through the use of computers. These crimes include fraudulent activities targeting both private businesses and individuals, hacking personal or company accounts, altering another person's personal information, unauthorized access to someone's online profile, using the internet for deception and dishonesty, and engaging in various other forms of wrongdoing. This work delves into cybercrimes committed by Nigerian youths and analyzes the issue through the lens of Kantian ethics, aiming to provide moral solutions for tackling cybercrime among youths.
