ABSTRACT

The study delves into the rich cultural heritage and significance of Asooke, Adire, and Ankara textiles within African societies. Despite their profound symbolism and role in shaping cultural identity, these textiles remain relatively understudied. This research aims to fill this gap by comprehensively analyzing their historical evolution, production techniques, regional variations, and contemporary usage. Through interdisciplinary exploration, we decode the symbolic meanings encoded within these textiles and examine their impact on identity formation and cultural expression. The study proposes recommendations to promote the understanding and appreciation of these fabrics, including encouraging designers' collaboration with traditional artisans, advocating for educational initiatives, supporting cultural preservation efforts, and fostering community engagement. By implementing these recommendations, we aim to ensure the continued vitality and relevance of Asooke, Adire, and Ankara textiles in preserving African cultural heritage.
