ABSTRACT
Traditionally, the dominant psychological accounts of human growth or development, portrayed men's development as authentic while that of women were conceived to be inferior. The idea that male education is grounded on justice, since they dominated society, justice being the most vital aspect of every society was the most recognised perspective. This has led to the feminist ethicist of care to react and to free themselves from these social conception of justice. Social theorist such as Rawls in his principle of justice propose equality of all individuals in the society, thereby, failing to recognise disability, dependency and interdependence relationship in his theory of justice. This works is nonetheless predicated on the question is everyone equal in a society where we have the above mentioned? Kittay aim is to correct this idea of justice by bringing in a new theory that will recognise and appreciate these people. This new way is what she refers to as the ‘ethics of care’. It is against this backdrop that this study shall evaluate Kittay's concept of ethics of care and with the view of answering the above questions. It is not all there is to know about Kittay or her works, rather, it is only an aspect of her field of interest (ethics of care).
