ABSTRACT
In traditional Africa society, costumes are element in which you can identify the people. The usage of costume varies from one event to the other. There are costume designs for royalty and commoners within a particular culture. In this present modern society, costumes are no longer designed to reflect the cultural identity of the people, thus a lot of persons cannot ascertain who is wearing what and do not understand the giving circumstances behind the usage of such costume. This research was aimed at studying the dress pattern of the Ughelli People. The study adopted the qualitative method of research using personal observation, photo shoot and costume exhibition in gathering necessary information. Finding reveals that the younger generations do not have access and interest to information about costumes. This research therefore recommends that costume related with culture should be properly preserved and well documented and also introduced into the school curriculum.
