ABSTRACT
The aim of this study is to assess the awareness of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) among mechanics in Egor Local Government Area, Edo State. The study adopted the survey research design and convinence sampling method was used to select one hundred and fifty four mechanics in Egor Local Government Area, Edo State. A well-structured questionnaire was used as instruments of data collection. The data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The data from the administered instrument is analysed using the IBM Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26.0 for windows. The level of significance was set at p<0.05. The result shows that majority of the respondents have good awareness of Coronavirus and their main source of information was the media. The study however also identified that there is there is a significant difference in the mean awareness of coronavirus by years of working as a mechanicandage and educational level showed significant relationship with knowledge. The study therefore recommends that government and multinational agencies should make concerted efforts to ensure that there is optimal knowledge of Coronavirus among people in Nigeria.
