Summary
The Contribution of Onyeka Onwenu’s music to National development can be described as one of Nigeria’s great feat as the elegant stallion has been able to distinguish herself with her unique songs that have agitated for harmony, unity and co-operation amongst Nigerians .It is distinguished in:
(i) The sense that it has gained the attention of many both locally and internationally.
(ii) The active interaction of the music with the audience who seemingly have been influenced positively by the lyrics of her songs.
(iii) The use of music to serve physical, psychological and technical functions
(iv) The fact that Onyeka onwenu’s music has had meaningful impact in the lives of Nigerians.
Chapter one presented a background to the study and its central objective, as well as its specific objectives to: examine features in Onyeka Onwenu’s music that have relevance for Nigeria’s development, to identify themes in Onyeka Onwenu’s songs that have implications for national development, to discuss the issues that are addressed in Onyeka Onwenu’s songs and to discuss the symbiotic relationship that exists between musical artistes and the society.
Chapter two dealt with a review of relevant literature will aided in providing understanding of the concept of music, the roles and functions as well as types of music, the contribution of Onyeka Onwenu’s music to National development in Nigeria.
